The Company
Globe 24-7 in partnership with a key mining client, are working together to source an experienced and qualified Social and Labour Plan & Stakeholder Engagement Manager for their team in Johannesburg, South Africa.

Responsibilities

1. Social and Labour Plan (SLP) Management:

  • Ensure full compliance with SLP pillars:

Human Resource Development (learnerships, internships, skills development)
Local Economic Development (LED) projects
Mine Community Development
Employment Equity and Transformation

  • Coordinate cross-functional teams (HR, Training, Operations, Procurement) to ensure implementation and integration of SLP initiatives.
  • Prepare and submit timeous SLP progress reports and annual compliance assessments to the DMRE.

2. Stakeholder Engagement:

  • Establish and maintain positive, trust-based relationships with local communities, traditional authorities, local government, NGOs, and other key stakeholders.
  • Develop and implement a structured stakeholder engagement plan aligned with the mine’s community and sustainability objectives.
  • Facilitate stakeholder forums, public participation processes, and community grievance mechanisms.
  • Act as the company’s representative in all community engagement activities and conflict resolution efforts.

3. Compliance, Monitoring & Reporting:

  • Track SLP KPIs and community engagement activities for alignment with regulatory commitments and company goals.
  • Conduct internal audits and risk assessments on SLP and stakeholder programs.
  • Maintain a robust stakeholder database and issue log to ensure transparency and follow-through.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Social Sciences, Development Studies, Public Administration, or a related field.
  • Minimum 7 years’ experience in SLP implementation and stakeholder engagement within the South African mining sector.
  • Proven ability to lead community development projects in complex socio-political environments.
  • Strong communication, negotiation, and conflict-resolution skills.
  • Project management experience and the ability to manage budgets, contractors, and development timelines.
  • Cultural sensitivity and emotional intelligence when engaging with diverse communities.
