Senior Tax Analyst

Opportunity knocks for an experienced Tax Analyst to gain international taxation exposure, and the opportunity to move into the mining sector, for a global leader in precious commodities.

Our client is a Tier 1 mining organisaton with significant global operations in four continents.

An opportunity has now presented itself for an experienced Tax Analyst to work on APAC initiatives, from a corporate office in Perth CBD.

Working closely with the Tax Director, you will manage the tax liabilities of multi-billion-dollar projects, and operations, in the APAC portfolio.

Our client is looking to grow the corporate accounting team and will support the career development of the successful candidate. Your role will include the optimisation of systems and procedures, and drive further change across the division. The aim for this hire is the succession planning for the current Tax Director, as they move into differing, senior, finance roles; a real opportunity to be mentored and nurtured into a senior role, in the fullness of time.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Corporate compliance and quarterly reporting
  • Maintain relationships with shareholder representatives to ensure regional compliance
  • Work with internal and external tax advisors to facilitate audits
  • Manage the income tax accounting requirements of this Australian Mining Group
  • Field and manage queries raised by the tax authorities.
  • Provide accurate and timely taxation advice to all areas of the business
  • Assist with external reporting of taxes paid to shareholder and Government agencies.
  • Assist with other accounting tasks as required and act as backup for other finance professionals.
  • Identify areas for improvement and implement process enhancements, automation, or technology solutions to drive efficiency, reduce costs, and enhance end user experience.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and ethical standards to ensure that tax activities are conducted in a compliant manner.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including, suppliers, partners, and internal teams.

Qualifications:

  • Business / Commerce / Finance with Accounting Major
  • CA/ CPA desirable
  • 6-9 year’s experience in a similar role
  • Mining experience desirable BUT an opportunity to move into Mining if you have large corporate experience in a differing industry.
  • Large scale corporate experience OR practice backgrounds would be considered
