The Company
ArcelorMittal Liberia (AML) is part of the global steel giant ArcelorMittal, committed to leading the way in steel production with a focus on safety, sustainability, quality, and leadership.  The AML project is unique to ArcelorMittal’s mining portfolio in that this was the first greenfield mine the company operated. 
 
ArcelorMittal mine, Mount Gangra, is considered one the most beautiful mining environments in the world. It consists of a massive deposit of good-quality iron ore and is situated near the town of Yekepa. Iron ore is then transported to nearby Tokadeh, also in the Nimba mountain range. From Tokadeh the ore is transported by rail to Buchanan for eventual shipment out of Liberia.
 
ArcelorMittal currently undergoing a massive Phase II expansion project which is set to be a game changer. The project, with a capacity of 15 million tonnes of iron ore concentrate, is making steady progress and is expected to be commissioned in Q4 2024.  The project consists of a state-of-the-art concentrator plant along with augmentation of the existing rail and port infrastructure to support the production and shipping of concentrated ore. The project will also have a positive impact on the local economy, with significant infrastructure upgrades, including road development, being taken up as part of the project.

The Role
The Scheduler/Specialist Scheduler is responsible for developing, implementing, and managing detailed maintenance schedules for the Concentrator and DSO (Direct Shipping Ore) production areas. This role ensures the efficient allocation of resources, minimizes downtime, and optimizes maintenance activities to maximize plant availability and productivity. The Scheduler/Specialist Scheduler works closely with maintenance teams, operations personnel, and other stakeholders to coordinate planned and unplanned maintenance, track progress, and ensure compliance with safety and operational standards.
 
 
The Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and manage daily, weekly, and monthly maintenance schedules using CMMS (e.g., SAP).
  • Coordinate with maintenance teams and supply chain to ensure availability of personnel, materials, and equipment.
  • Plan and monitor shutdowns and integrate maintenance with production goals.
  • Manage and prioritize work orders, track progress, and ensure timely completion.
  • Monitor KPIs (e.g., schedule compliance, downtime), analyze data, and report on performance.
  • Lead planning meetings and ensure effective communication across departments.
  • Drive continuous improvement and implement scheduling best practices.

 
The Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in maintenance planning and scheduling in a heavy industrial environment, preferably in mining or mineral processing.
  • Strong working knowledge of computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS), such as SAP.
  • Experience in developing and managing complex maintenance schedules, including shutdown planning.
  • Strong technical understanding of mineral processing equipment.
  • Experience in project and risk management.
