The Company
Globe 24-7, in partnership with a leading global logistics and supply chain solutions provider, is seeking an experienced and highly strategic Regional Freight Forwarding Manager to oversee and expand logistics operations across Kenya, Uganda, Rwanda, Northeastern DRC. This role is based in East Africa.
The Role
This role involves leading pricing strategies, optimizing logistics operations, and driving business development initiatives in the region. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in freight forwarding, corridor development, and pricing across sea, air, and land freight, along with a strong network within the logistics industry.
The Responsibilities
Pricing & Operations Management:
- Evaluate and compare freight rates (LCL, FCL, air, land, and special equipment cargo) to provide tailored and competitive pricing to clients.
- Maintain and update a market rate database to ensure accurate and competitive pricing strategies.
- Lead negotiations with carriers, NVOCCs, and logistics providers to secure optimal rates and service levels.
- Oversee warehousing rates, cross-loading, and storage solutions for efficiency and cost optimization.
- Ensure compliance with international trade regulations and KYC (Know Your Customer) requirements.
Sales & Business Development:
- Identify new business opportunities by attending industry networking events such as WCA, GLA, and other freight forwarding networks.
- Develop and maintain relationships with global freight agents to enhance international trade operations.
- Support sales teams with pricing, quotations, and market intelligence to drive revenue growth.
- Conduct proactive cold sales outreach and client follow-ups to generate business leads.
- Expand The Group market presence across Kenya, Uganda, Rwanda, N. Eastern DRC and broader East Africa
- Collaborate with teams across the Group perimeter to enhance the network
Customer & Vendor Relationship Management:
- Provide back-end support to the sales team, ensuring smooth operations from booking to final documentation.
- Enhance customer service standards throughout the shipping process, ensuring client satisfaction.
- Manage relationships with vendors, carriers, and partners to improve service delivery.
- Ensure prompt and accurate invoicing, financial reconciliation, and compliance with company standards.
The Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Logistics, Supply Chain, or a related field.
- 10+ years of experience in freight forwarding, logistics pricing, or business development.
- Expertise in sea, air, rail, and land freight pricing, operations, and vendor negotiations.
- Strong industry connections with experience in international freight networks.
- Proven ability to develop and grow client relationships, identifying new revenue streams.
- Strong analytical and negotiation skills with a results-driven mindset.
- Excellent communication and coordination skills.
- Experience in logistics operations across East and Central Africa is a plus.
- Expertise in oil and gas logistics is highly preferred.
- Strategic mindset: Ability to identify new logistics opportunities and improve operational efficiency.
- Familiarity with freight forwarding for high-value and specialized cargo (e.g., mining equipment, oil & gas supplies, cyanide transport).
