The Company
ArcelorMittal Liberia (AML) is part of the global steel giant ArcelorMittal, committed to leading the way in steel production with a focus on safety, sustainability, quality, and leadership.  The AML project is unique to ArcelorMittal’s mining portfolio in that this was the first greenfield mine the company operated. 
 
ArcelorMittal mine, Mount Gangra, is considered one the most beautiful mining environments in the world. It consists of a massive deposit of good-quality iron ore and is situated near the town of Yekepa. Iron ore is then transported to nearby Tokadeh, also in the Nimba mountain range. From Tokadeh the ore is transported by rail to Buchanan for eventual shipment out of Liberia.
 
ArcelorMittal currently undergoing a massive Phase II expansion project which is set to be a game changer. The project, with a capacity of 15 million tonnes of iron ore concentrate, is making steady progress and is expected to be commissioned in Q4 2024.  The project consists of a state-of-the-art concentrator plant along with augmentation of the existing rail and port infrastructure to support the production and shipping of concentrated ore. The project will also have a positive impact on the local economy, with significant infrastructure upgrades, including road development, being taken up as part of the project.

The Role
The Maintenance Planning Specialist (HME) is responsible for ensuring equipment availability by planning and overseeing maintenance tasks, including repairs, corrective and preventive maintenance, and major refurbishments. This role involves collaborating with stakeholders to manage resources, schedule maintenance, and analyze performance to optimize operations. The specialist is also an SAP super user, ensuring smooth execution of maintenance plans and shutdown activities.
 
 
The Key Responsibilities

  • Proactively plan and structure maintenance schedules, ensuring safety, quality, and cost efficiency.
  • Minimize business risks during planned maintenance and ensure asset productivity between shutdowns.
  • Coordinate with stakeholders to acquire necessary resources and materials.
  • Monitor maintenance performance using KPIs like MTTR, MTBF, and planned efficiency.
  • Identify and implement improvements in processes, equipment, and resources.
  • Conduct failure analysis and support reliability engineering efforts.
  • Provide training and mentoring to staff on maintenance strategy and planning.
  • Ensure compliance with ArcelorMittal policies and values.

 
The Requirements

  • Diploma or degree in Electrical/Mechanical Engineering or related field.
  • Certification as a professional trainer.
  • SAP super user experience.
  • 10+ years of mining industry experience.
  • Advanced MS Office skills and knowledge of planning best practices.
