The Company
ArcelorMittal Liberia (AML) is part of the global steel giant ArcelorMittal, committed to leading the way in steel production with a focus on safety, sustainability, quality, and leadership.  The AML project is unique to ArcelorMittal’s mining portfolio in that this was the first greenfield mine the company operated. 
 
ArcelorMittal mine, Mount Gangra, is considered one the most beautiful mining environments in the world. It consists of a massive deposit of good-quality iron ore and is situated near the town of Yekepa. Iron ore is then transported to nearby Tokadeh, also in the Nimba mountain range. From Tokadeh the ore is transported by rail to Buchanan for eventual shipment out of Liberia.
 
ArcelorMittal currently undergoing a massive Phase II expansion project which is set to be a game changer. The project, with a capacity of 15 million tonnes of iron ore concentrate, is making steady progress and is expected to be commissioned in Q4 2024.  The project consists of a state-of-the-art concentrator plant along with augmentation of the existing rail and port infrastructure to support the production and shipping of concentrated ore. The project will also have a positive impact on the local economy, with significant infrastructure upgrades, including road development, being taken up as part of the project.

The Role
To be responsible to all instrument-level (level 0) including support to preventive and backshift maintenance teams, inspection and planning, and Operational teams (including troubleshooting and resolving unscheduled plant equipment breakdown), on crushing, material handling, grinding, gravimetric concentration, magnetic concentration, concentrate dewatering, concentrate loading system, and concentrate tailing circuit.
 
The Key Responsibilities

  • Fully responsible in managing Safety, Health and Environmental for safe maintenance task execution includes (and not limited to) proper risk assessment prior work execution, proper plant equipment isolations, proper work permit compliance, proper PPE and tools allocations and shift crew fatigue management.
  • Support Electrical Specialist to achieve planned utilization, availability, productivity, and performance of the Concentrator plant.
  • Ensure the correct implementation of instrument-level infrastructure for correct operation of all related systems for Arcelor Mittal Liberia
  • Ensure the development and follow-up of implementation schedule for OT Projects and Infrastructure.
  • Ensure the proper setup for future connection with SAP.
  • Carry out plant issues troubleshooting and resolution to agreed quality, quantity, and schedule with mechanical technicians.
  • Collaborate with Maintenance Manager and Engineering counterpart to achieve best interest decision regarding instrument-level equipment.
  • Ensure the correct implementation of workflow management in SAP Maintenance System (SAP-ARMP)
  • Ensure the correct key-in SAP-ARMP the instruments and PLCs maintenance plans, maintenance procedures, work instructions linking with international standards (when applicable) for all Concentrator area according to OEM operational and maintenance manuals.
  • Work in close cooperation with the Plant Operational teams to ensure effective utilization, availability, and productivity of Concentrator plant.
  • Ensure continuous feedback for improvement of Electrical maintenance plans, maintenance procedures, work instructions linking with international standards (when applicable) for all Concentrator area.
  • Be visible in the workplace.
  • Be Hands on with shift maintenance teams to ensure work is being done according to the ArcelorMittal standards and procedures.
  • Support the Maintenance areas to assess the operational assets in his/her discipline of expertise to assure nominal production capacity.
  • Be proactive with Maintenance & Engineering teams to achieve the productivity goals established through the engineering processes, such as: loss profile, failure analysis, initial control, predictive techniques, structural integrity, and development of new technologies.
  • Ensure the development of technical solutions to mitigate or eliminate systemic failures in his/her area of expertise.
  • Interface with the areas of Planning and Execution including maintenance control, regional purchasing, inventory management, consolidated purchasing, tax cells and human resources, as well as third-parties service providers.
  • Support the identification of opportunity gains through the development of materials engineering (whenever applicable), aiming at cost reduction and productivity increase.
  • Execute proactively the analysis of operational constraints and bottlenecks, and fully develop and implement solutions.
  • Guide, develop and technically train the team (related to his/her expertise), seeking to identify potential successors for AML.
  • Ensure Initial Control for all New Assets.
  • Ensure the correct technical specification of services and/or components for maintenance and engineering teams.
  • Follow maintenance engineering and production system procedures.
  • Be aligned with the company’s code of ethics, transmitting the values to the team.
  • Follow cycle time for components and propose improvements.
  • Execute safety and technical inspections on the equipment on the site.
  • Execute preparation and review of maintenance plans according to OEM and Assets manuals

Secondary qualifications in Electrical or Electronic Trades

  • The position offers a 2-year contract with a competitive remuneration package on single status with a 7-3 FIFO roster.
