Operations Director

We are seeking an experienced Operations Director to lead a key mining unit located near Salta, Argentina.
This is a critical leadership role demanding a strategic yet practical approach to drive safe, efficient, and cost-effective production in a high-altitude environment. You will be joining a dynamic organization focused on continuous improvement, innovation, and operational excellence.

The Role
Reporting to the Country Director, you will be responsible for the overall leadership and management of the site’s operational activities. Your primary goal is to achieve production objectives while upholding the highest standards in safety, environmental stewardship, and operational efficiency. This includes overseeing mining, processing (including a complex Heap Leach, ADR & SART circuit), technical services, and maintenance functions.
The operation is dynamic, embracing automation and optimization projects to enhance productivity and manage costs effectively within a known mine life. This role is pivotal in navigating these changes and driving the site’s success.
This position requires mandatory, full-time relocation to Salta, Argentina. This is NOT a Fly-In/Fly-Out (FIFO) role.
Ability to work comfortably and safely at high altitudes (+3,800m).
Key Responsibilities
- Lead all site operations: mining, processing, technical services, maintenance.
- Ensure safe, efficient, and cost-effective production.
- Drive continuous improvement, optimization, and manage budgets (OPEX/CAPEX).
- Lead and develop a multicultural team.
- Champion SHEC compliance and culture.
The Requirements
- Experience: Significant senior operational leadership (10-15+ years total mining, 5+ years senior management).
- Technical: Strong practical experience with Heap Leach operations highly preferred (Gold ideal). Open-pit mining background. Engineering Degree (Mining, Metallurgical, Geo).
- Languages: MUST be fluent in both Spanish and English.
- Skills: Proven leadership, hands-on approach, strategic planning, financial acumen, cultural adaptability, resilience.
- Desired Attributes: Critical thinker with practical field experience (“lived the problems”), Open-mindedness and a proactive approach to change, improvement, and innovation.
