Underground HV Electrician
The Company
Globe 24-7 are partnering with a leading global gold mining company operating an underground mine in Tanzania.
The Role
- The Underground HV Electrician will provide expert diagnostic, maintenance, and repair support for underground high-voltage electrical infrastructure and reticulation, ensuring compliance with safety, quality, and engineering standards.
- The role coordinates maintenance activities, supports infrastructure projects and Life-of-Mine planning, and builds team capability through training and coaching.
The Key Responsibilities
- Uphold HSE standards, manage risks, and support operational and project targets.
- Advise and coordinate UG HV maintenance, reticulation expansion, and daily infrastructure support.
- Ensure compliance with legislation, standards, and management systems; participate in audits and maintain documentation.
- Support Life-of-Mine planning, scopes of work, HV new builds, and capital project execution.
- Monitor equipment performance, quality, and reporting, including inspections, work orders, and failure analyses.
- Develop skills matrices and training programs; provide on-the-job coaching and maintain training records.
- Liaise with site leadership, technical teams, and contractors to support progress, change, cost, and schedule.
Qualifications & Experience
- Trade test level three/Grade one in electrical and installation or FTC in electrical certificate and above
- High Voltage training Certificate
- Valid driving license
- Electrical Engineer or above will add an advantage
- Five years and above working experience on underground equipment
- Qualified High Voltage Electrician with at least 5 years’ experience in underground operations’ electrical maintenance and repairs, and at least 5 years in international/multi-national organizations
- High Voltage Switching and experience with HV electrical equipment
- Experience managing underground HV infrastructure and detailed maintenance strategies
- Experience with 11kV transformers, switchgear, RMU; MV cable splicing and terminations
- Experience with high/low voltage circuit breakers, earth leakage protections, 1000V equipment and gulley box, and jumbo drill units
- Ability to demonstrate professionalism in the workplace
