Medium Term Planning Specialist

Globe 24-7 are partnering with a leading global gold mining company operating a modern, mechanised underground operation in Ghana.
The Role
The Medium Term Planning Specialist leads the development, governance, and optimisation of 3–24-month mine plans that translate Life of Mine strategy into executable plans.
The role provides senior technical oversight across assigned mining block(s), ensuring planning integrity, infrastructure readiness, compliance with site standards, and integration of design, geotechnical, ventilation, infrastructure, and capital inputs.
The Key Responsibilities
- Lead preparation, governance, and optimisation of medium-term plans aligned to Life of Mine strategy and operational readiness.
- Allocate time to underground engagement to validate assumptions, verify design compliance, and assess infrastructure readiness within assigned block(s).
- Produce infrastructure and development designs, stope notes, and mining instructions integrated with short-term schedules and capital sequencing.
- Integrate ground control, geotechnical, ventilation, void management, and backfill inputs; maintain Void Management Plans and compliance documentation.
- Lead reconciliation and performance reviews to validate assumptions, address deviations, and improve forecast reliability.
- Coordinate with short-term and Life of Mine planners for horizon integration, milestone alignment, and schedule continuity.
- Provide senior technical guidance and mentoring to planning engineers and support continuous improvement in planning processes.
- Uphold site safety requirements and a culture of zero harm.
Qualifications & Experience
- Tertiary qualification in Mining Engineering or a related discipline.
- Minimum five (5) years’ underground mine planning experience with a focus on development and production design.
- Training or exposure to mine design software (e.g. Deswik CAD/Scheduler) and mine planning systems is desirable.
- Proficient in Deswik (CAD and Scheduler), Excel, and PowerPoint for planning, design, and reporting tasks.
- Familiar with medium-term planning processes, design approval workflows, and integration with weekly and 12-week scheduling.
- Understanding of void management practices, reconciliation procedures, and infrastructure design coordination.
- Experience working within a cross-functional technical team in an underground mining environment.
- Strong communication and coordination skills across multidisciplinary teams.
- Ability to work underground as required, including travel between work areas.
- Capable of using a computer for extended periods in an office environment; physically fit to meet site medical and functional capacity requirements.
First aid certificate from an internationally recognised body and blasting Certificate of Competency from the Minerals commission of Ghana (Mincom).
Valid drivers’ licence.
