Sukari is located approximately 750km from Cairo and 25km from Marsa Alam on the Red Sea. First gold was poured in June 2009 and commercial production began in April 2010, making Sukari the first modern gold mine in Egypt, a country which in ancient times was a prolific producer of the precious metal. Sukari conducts both open-pit and underground mining operations, each employing specialised mining methods tailored to the orebody characteristics and operational requirements.
 
The Role
 
AngloGold Ashanti is seeking a Shift Operator for Sukari in Egypt to support processing operations through the safe preparation and mixing of chemical reagents, operation of mobile equipment, and completion of general plant housekeeping activities. The role is responsible for helping maintain required process parameters and reporting safety issues and hazards to the immediate supervisor.
The Shift Operator works closely with operational supervisors and leading hands to ensure plant areas remain clean, safe, and efficient. The position also supports continuous gold processing by recording operating parameters, maintaining safe work practices, and reporting maintenance issues and equipment faults.

• Schedule: 20/10 working roster

The Key Responsibilities
 

• Workplace safety: Comply with Sukari and processing safety management policies, PPE requirements, and permit to work systems.
• Housekeeping: Keep plant areas clean, orderly, and free from hazards, including spill clean-up and control of supply placement.
• Reagent preparation: Prepare and mix process reagents to required plant parameters, including PAX, cyanide, HCL, and copper sulphate.
• Machinery operation: Safely operate Bobcat, Forklift, ADT, and IT equipment in line with Sukari operating procedures.
• Production support: Complete allocated tasks safely and efficiently to support forecast reagent supply and continuous gold processing.
• Reporting: Record operating parameters and changes as required, and report hazards, faults, and maintenance issues to the supervisor.
• Fitness for work: Present for duty in a fit and healthy condition and maintain safe standards for self and fellow workers.
