Safety Supervisor

Sukari is located approximately 750km from Cairo and 25km from Marsa Alam on the Red Sea. First gold was poured in June 2009 and commercial production began in April 2010, making Sukari the first modern gold mine in Egypt, a country which in ancient times was a prolific producer of the precious metal. Sukari conducts both open-pit and underground mining operations, each employing specialized mining methods tailored to the orebody characteristics and operational requirements.

The Role

We are looking for a qualified experienced Safety Supervisor to manage frontline safety operations, supervise field safety personnel, and drive safety compliance across site operations. Reporting to the Safety Superintendent, you will coordinate HSE activities, evaluate site hazards, lead safety campaigns, and ensure adherence to local regulations and international management systems.

The Key Responsibilities

  • Field Leadership & Supervision: Manage and coach frontline field safety officers, oversee day-to-day roster coverage, and conduct regular safety meetings for employees and contractors.
  • Risk Management & Inspections: Conduct risk assessments, Job Safety Analyses (JSA), area inspections, and evaluate high-risk management plans (e.g., electrical, lifting, liquid oxygen).
  • Incident Analytics & CAPA: Analyze leading and lagging indicators, lead incident investigations, and track Corrective and Preventive Actions (CAPA) through to completion.
  • Compliance & Audits: Prepare and presenting regular HSE reports, monitor compliance with Egyptian HSE legislation, and execute internal audit plans.
  • Training & Awareness: Deliver site inductions, issue toolbox talks, and identify departmental safety training requirements.
  • Contractor & Supply Chain Support: Review contractor safety plans, evaluate tender specs and Scopes of Work (SOW), and approve personal protective equipment (PPE) requirements.

The Requirements

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Science, Engineering, Agriculture, or a related field.
  • Certifications: NEBOSH IGC, ASP, CSP, or equivalent safety certification; Train-the-Trainer certification preferred.
  • Experience: 3 to 10 years of professional safety experience, ideally within mining, construction, or heavy industrial environments.
  • Technical Skills:

   Strong knowledge of Egyptian HSE legislation and international safety standards.
   Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and incident management software.
   Valid Light Vehicle (LV) site/mine driver’s license.

  •   Language & Communication: High-level English proficiency (written and spoken) with excellent reporting skills.
