Position: Operations Deputy Director
Direct Reports: 5 Managers
Reports to: General Director
Main Responsibility Areas: Mine Operation, Processing Plant Operation, Maintenance Management and Technical Services.

The Operations Deputy Director will play a key leadership role, overseeing mining and processing activities, driving operational performance, ensuring the highest safety standards, and contributing to the long-term growth and success of the operation.
 
RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
Responsible for overseeing all on-site operational activities, ensuring compliance with internal control and corporate governance standards, delivering short-term production objectives, and maintaining the highest standards of health, safety, environment, quality, and productivity.
 

  • Plan, operate, maintain and control all mining and ore processing activities.
  • Guarantee the quality and volume of expected production, meeting the sales plan and guaranteeing the product to the end customer.
  • Manage KPIs and support leaders to achieve budgetary and production goals, focusing on continuous improvement, safety management, environmental and social programs.
  • Ensure asset performance by improving operations, capturing cost reductions through process redesign and performance management.
  • Develop and execute the strategic planning of the Carajás Hub to increase the profitability, productivity and efficiency of operations.
  • Develop a high-performance culture and a consistent and sustainable team.
  • Ensure the implementation and alignment of internal corporate policies and practices in the management of operations under their responsibility.
  • Develop and ensure the execution of the operational readiness plan for new assets that will come into operation.
  • Ensure that the operational workforce is informed about direction and goals through a coordinated communication and engagement plan, involving regular briefings and team meetings.

 
REQUIREMENTS:

  • At least 15 years of experience in leadership positions, experience in managing operation and maintenance leaders in underground mines and processing plants;
  • Experience in mining operations, particularly in underground mines and industrial plants; Bachelor’s degree in Mining Engineering, Geology, or related fields; Fluent English.
  • Experience in large and medium-sized multinational mining companies;
  • Leadership and communication skills, excellent writing and fluent expression; Excellent planning, data analysis and organizational skills; Proactive attitude focused on anticipating and solving complex problems. Postgraduate degree in Business Management or Human Resources Management.
