Mine Superintendent

The Company
 
Globe 24-7 is partnering with a US-based mining client to hire an experienced Underground Mine Superintendent for one of their projects based in northern British Columbia.
 
Position Overview 
 
Working in a Northern British Columbia mining environment on a two-weeks-on/two-weeks-off rotational schedule, the Mine Superintendent is responsible for the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of operational and engineering processes that support the safe, efficient, and productive execution of underground mining activities.
 
 
The Responsibilities
 
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: 

• Provides strategic and operational leadership for all underground mining activities, ensuring the safe, efficient, and sustainable execution of mine plans while meeting production, cost, and quality objectives.
• Delivers visible leadership that reinforces a strong safety-first culture and promotes accountability across all levels of the operation.
• Direct underground production activities to achieve operational targets while maintaining compliance with regulatory, environmental, and organizational standards.
• Translate business objectives into actionable operating plans and ensure effective execution through frontline leadership teams.
• Drive operational excellence by identifying opportunities to improve productivity, reduce costs, optimize resource utilization, and enhance overall mine performance.
• Establish performance expectations and monitor results through operational metrics, benchmarking, and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Partner with technical services, geology, processing, maintenance, and other site functions to coordinate activities and maximize operational effectiveness.
• Lead workforce planning initiatives, including talent development, succession planning, coaching, and performance management.
• Manage departmental financial performance through forecasting, budgeting, cost control, and resource allocation.
• Oversee contractor activities and site projects to ensure work is completed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with established objectives.
• Support the development and execution of short-, medium-, and long-term mine operating strategies.
• Review operational data and performance trends to identify risks, opportunities, and corrective actions required to meet business goals.
• Ensure environmental stewardship practices are integrated into daily operations and aligned with applicable permits and regulatory requirements.
• Prepare and present operational updates, business cases, and performance reports to senior leadership.
• Contribute to site-wide initiatives that support operational growth, organizational effectiveness, and long-term business success.
• Undertake additional responsibilities consistent with the scope and leadership level of the role.

 
Qualifications

• Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation in Mining Engineering, Geological Engineering, or a related discipline, currently registered or eligible for registration in British Columbia.
• Fifteen (15)+ years of experience in the mining industry, including at least ten (10) years in progressively responsible technical, leadership, or supervisory positions.
• Underground Mining experience, particularly with precious metals, is required
• Demonstrated commitment to workplace health, safety, and environmental stewardship, supported by a strong safety performance record.
• Advanced computer proficiency, including experience with Microsoft Office applications and industry-standard technical software.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to and work at remote mine sites within Northern British Columbia as required.
• Physically capable of meeting the demands of site-based work in a mining environment.

 
The Rewards
The position offers a competitive remuneration package with a base salary range of $160,000 – $170,000/yr with additional benefits, including a year-end annual bonus target of 20%. A Travel Allowance is provided for site-based positions and accomodations will be provided while onsite.
