Position: Mine Maintenance Superintendent
Location: Oko West Project, Guyana
The Mine Maintenance Superintendent will lead all maintenance activities for the mining fleet at the Oko West Project in Guyana, ensuring safe execution while maximising equipment availability, reliability and cost effectiveness in support of production targets.
Reporting to the Mine Manager, the role leads the maintenance team — general foremen, engineers, supervisors, planners and technicians — and coordinates closely with Mine Operations, Supply Chain, Warehouse, Engineering, OEMs and contractors to ensure effective maintenance planning, execution, parts availability and continuous improvement. This is a rotation-based role in a remote mining environment, requiring strong field presence and effective coordination of maintenance activities across operating shifts.
The Company
In 2020, G Mining Ventures (GMIN) was created to acquire direct ownership of projects and capitalise on the value uplift that successful mine development offers. In July 2024, GMIN acquired the Oko West Project, a new gold discovery in northwest Guyana located approximately 95 km west of Georgetown, which the Company is now developing into an operating mine. Main Responsibilities
- Lead all planned, preventive, predictive and corrective maintenance activities for the mining fleet, including shovels, excavators, haul trucks, drills, dozers, graders, loaders and support equipment.
- Maximise fleet availability and reliability by monitoring equipment condition, breakdowns, recurring failures, maintenance backlog, component life and maintenance KPIs, implementing timely corrective actions.
- Ensure effective maintenance planning and scheduling, covering preventive maintenance, major repairs, component replacements, shutdowns, work orders, manpower, tooling and resources.
- Lead maintenance general foremen, supervisors, planners, technicians and contractors, ensuring adequate staffing, competency development, performance management, accountability and effective shift handovers.
- Ensure effective use of the Maintenance Management System, maintaining accurate equipment history, work orders, maintenance costs, parts consumption and performance data to support decision-making and continuous improvement.
- Coordinate with Supply Chain, Warehouse, OEMs and suppliers to ensure availability of critical spare parts, consumables, major components, technical support and warranty follow-up.
- Develop and control maintenance budgets, forecasts and costs, identifying opportunities to improve equipment lifecycle performance and reduce downtime and maintenance costs.
- Provide visible safety leadership and ensure all maintenance activities comply with Company HSE standards, including isolation, lockout, lifting, stored energy, pressure systems and other maintenance-related critical risks.
Position Requirements
As the successful candidate, it is essential that you possess the following skills, experience and competencies:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Maintenance or a related technical field preferred; equivalent technical qualifications combined with significant relevant experience may be considered.
- Minimum 10 to 15 years of progressive heavy equipment maintenance experience, including at least five years in a senior supervisory or superintendent role.
- Strong experience managing and maintaining large mining fleets and leading multidisciplinary maintenance teams.
- Strong knowledge of preventive and predictive maintenance, equipment reliability, troubleshooting, root cause analysis, major component management and maintenance planning.
- Strong understanding of maintenance KPIs, including equipment availability, MTBF, MTTR, schedule compliance, backlog and maintenance costs.
- Proven experience with a Maintenance Management System and maintenance data management; SAP PM or a similar system is an asset.
- Strong knowledge of maintenance budgeting, cost control, spare parts management and coordination with OEMs and suppliers.
- Strong leadership, communication, organisational, analytical and decision-making skills, with the ability to operate effectively in a remote and demanding mining environment.

Compensation
Our client will provide a market-related remuneration package, including an annual performance bonus and participation in the Company’s group medical and life insurance plan for the employee and dependents.
The position is residential at site on a rotational roster of 23 days on and 19 days off. For international candidates, the Company provides international and in-country travel, accommodation and meals while in Guyana, together with support throughout the required immigration process.
