The Role
The Maintenance Planner – Trucks is responsible for developing and managing maintenance plans specifically for trucks used in mining operations. This role involves creating and optimizing maintenance schedules, ensuring operational readiness and performance of trucking fleets, and coordinating with maintenance teams to support efficient equipment management. The Maintenance Planner will work closely with maintenance, operations, and engineering teams to ensure that all trucks are maintained to the highest standards and that any issues are addressed promptly and effectively.
The Key Responsibilities
Maintenance Planning:
- Develop and implement comprehensive maintenance plans for trucks, including preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance schedules.
- Ensure that maintenance activities are strategically planned to minimize truck downtime and maximize fleet availability.
Scheduling and Coordination:
- Create detailed maintenance schedules for trucks, coordinating with maintenance teams to ensure timely and effective execution of maintenance tasks.
- Adjust maintenance schedules as necessary based on truck performance data, operational demands, and unforeseen issues.
Technical Analysis and Support:
- Analyze performance data and maintenance records for trucks to identify trends, potential issues, and areas for improvement.
- Provide technical support and guidance to maintenance teams on complex truck issues and repairs.
Resource Management:
- Ensure that all required parts, tools, and resources are available for scheduled maintenance activities.
- Collaborate with procurement and inventory teams to manage spare parts inventory and ensure timely availability of required components.
The Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field; relevant certifications (e.g., Professional Engineer) are advantageous.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in maintenance planning for heavy equipment, with a focus on trucks.
- Proven experience in developing and managing maintenance schedules, resource management, and technical support.
- Strong understanding of safety regulations, environmental standards, and best practices in equipment maintenance.

- The position offers a 2-year contract with a competitive remuneration package on single status with a 7-3 FIFO roster.
