LV Electrician
Sukari is located approximately 750km from Cairo and 25km from Marsa Alam on the Red Sea. First gold was poured in June 2009 and commercial production began in April 2010, making Sukari the first modern gold mine in Egypt, a country which in ancient times was a prolific producer of the precious metal. Sukari conducts both open-pit and underground mining operations, each employing specialised mining methods tailored to the orebody characteristics and operational requirements.
The Role
AngloGold Ashanti is seeking an LV Electrician for Sukari to execute planned and unplanned maintenance activities on a shift-by-shift basis safely and effectively. The role is responsible for carrying out maintenance work to the required quality standards and company expectations, ensuring equipment reliability and availability.
The LV Electrician works within the Mobile Maintenance team, supporting safe work execution, fault identification, testing and commissioning, accurate maintenance reporting, and active participation in safety and improvement initiatives.

The Key Responsibilities
- Inspect equipment: Carry out inspections and identify corrective work before it becomes a breakdown.
- Prioritise work: Ensure identified work is prioritised according to potential HSE risk and equipment availability.
- Execute maintenance safely: Confirm task requirements and risks before starting, and comply with permits, isolations, risk assessments and site requirements.
- Prepare and complete tasks: Collect required tools and equipment, then complete assigned work safely, effectively and to schedule.
- Test and commission equipment: Verify faults are rectified and return machines in a fit-for-purpose condition.
- Maintain records and housekeeping: Complete maintenance documentation to the required standard, report damaged or missing tools, and maintain clean work areas.
- Support team improvement: Participate in training, safety meetings, and safety and improvement initiatives as directed.
The Requirements
- Certificate in Auto-Electrical
- Valid driver’s licence
- At least 12 months post-qualification experience in the automotive, heavy equipment or construction industry
- Ability to drive a car and operate plant and equipment
- Understanding of Caterpillar equipment and systems
- Ability to identify risks and perform risk assessments
- Ability to read and interpret workshop manuals and schematics
- Troubleshooting and fault-finding skills
- Able to read and write Arabic; English is desirable
- Ability to follow instructions and communicate clearly
