ENVIRONMENTAL SUPERVISOR
Sukari is located approximately 750km from Cairo and 25km from Marsa Alam on the Red Sea. First gold was poured in June 2009 and commercial production began in April 2010, making Sukari the first modern gold mine in Egypt, a country which in ancient times was a prolific producer of the precious metal. Sukari conducts both open-pit and underground mining operations, each employing specialized mining methods tailored to the orebody characteristics and operational requirements.

The Role
 
We are looking for a qualified Environmental Supervisor to join our HSES Department. Reporting directly to the HSE Manager/Environmental Coordinator, you will lead field monitoring programs, direct a team of officers and technicians, oversee key facility operations (such as the Tailings Storage Facility), and drive ISO 14001 compliance. You will serve as a key on-site lead for safeguard initiatives, environmental audits, and incident prevention.
 
 
The Key Responsibilities
 

• Environmental Management & Compliance: Implement and monitor the SGM Environmental Management Plan, Chemical Management Plan, and Waste Management Plan across all site areas. Maintain ISO 14001 management system standards.
• Field Monitoring & Inspections: Oversee air quality, water quality, and food safety sampling; direct wildlife monitoring and hazard controls. Conduct regular inspections across site facilities and food service areas.
• Team Leadership & Oversight: Supervise direct reports (6 direct / 21 total personnel), coordinate daily field operations, and manage site contractors.
• Emergency Preparedness & Response: Inspect environmental emergency response equipment (e.g., chemical spill kits), train site personnel on spill management, and participate actively in the Emergency Response Team.
• Audits & Incident Management: Coordinate internal/external audits, investigate environmental non-conformities or near misses, and track corrective/preventative actions.
• Training & Awareness: Deliver HSE training, site environmental inductions, and toolbox talks to employees, contractors, and site visitors.

 
 
The Requirements
 

• Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Science, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
• Certifications: NEBOSH certificate (or equivalent demonstrated experience). Valid LV site and mine permit.
• Experience: Minimum 5+ years of professional experience in environmental management within heavy industry or mining, with proven supervisory capabilities.
• Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of national environmental legislation, ISO 14001 systems, waste management, and chemical handling procedures.
• Skills: Excellent command of English and Arabic; proficient in Microsoft Office; strong report-writing, organizational, and interpersonal skills
