The Role
The Control Room Operator Specialist is responsible for monitoring and controlling the operations of the concentrator plant from the control room. This role involves ensuring the safe and efficient processing of materials, managing equipment operations, and responding to system alarms and notifications. The Control Room Operator Specialist will work closely with the operations team to optimize performance and maintain product quality while adhering to safety and environmental regulations.
 
The Key Responsibilities
Monitoring Operations:

  • Continuously monitor the performance of the concentrator plant through control room displays and instrumentation.
  • Track key performance indicators (KPIs) and operational parameters to ensure optimal processing conditions.

Equipment Control:

  • Operate and control various equipment and systems within the concentrator, including crushers, mills, flotation cells, and related machinery.
  • Adjust equipment settings as necessary to maintain production targets and quality standards.

Alarm Management:

  • Respond promptly to alarms and alerts, diagnosing issues and taking corrective actions as required.
  • Document incidents and report significant deviations or malfunctions to the Operations Supervisor.

Coordination and Communication:

  • Communicate effectively with field operators and maintenance personnel to coordinate activities and resolve issues.
  • Provide clear instructions and updates during operational shifts, ensuring smooth transitions between operators.

Data Recording and Reporting:

  • Maintain accurate records of operational data, including production outputs, equipment performance, and incidents.
  • Prepare and submit daily reports summarizing operations, anomalies, and maintenance needs.

 
The Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent; technical degree or certification in process operations or a related field is preferred.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in a control room or operations role within a mining or mineral processing environment.
  • Familiarity with concentrator processes and equipment is a significant advantage.
  • Strong understanding of control room operations, process instrumentation, and equipment functionality

 
 
The Rewards

  • The position offers a 2-year contract with a competitive remuneration package on single status with a 7-3 FIFO roster.
