Contracts Administrator
AngloGold Ashanti acquired the Sukari gold mine in Egypt through the acquisition of Centamin plc in November 2024. Sukari is owned in partnership with the Egyptian Government.
Sukari is located approximately 750km from Cairo and 25km from Marsa Alam on the Red Sea. First gold was poured in June 2009 and commercial production began in April 2010, making Sukari the first modern gold mine in Egypt, a country which in ancient times was a prolific producer of the precious metal. Sukari conducts both open-pit and underground mining operations, each employing specialised mining methods tailored to the orebody characteristics and operational requirements.
The Role
The Contracts Administrator is responsible for running end-to-end tender processes and drafting robust contracts to ensure the cost-effective and timely procurement of goods and services. Operating in strict accordance with corporate guidelines, policies, and supply procedures, this role ensures absolute data integrity and maintains a strict “zero tolerance” compliance policy for contractual records, filings, and rate verifications .

The Key Responsibilities
- Tendering & Awarding Coordination: Prepare, manage, and conduct the entire tender process, which includes standardizing bidding packages, executing thorough commercial evaluations, and compiling contractor assessment/recommendation reports for top management award approval.
- Contract Formulation & Drafting: Formulate and draft formal contracts, amendments, modifications, and commercial or contractual correspondence during contract implementation, ensuring seamless alignment with company policy.
- Compliance & Rate Monitoring: Review contract purchase order rates against verified contract values and Variation Orders (VOs). Maintain a strict “zero tolerance” policy for filing gaps, contractual deviation, or non-compliance.
- ERP Database Maintenance: Systematically update Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) databases with specialized contract conditions, pricing metrics, and ensure all process documentation is properly archived within the centralized Supply System.
- Performance Reporting: Monitor vendor performance, drive service performance KPI reports, and run/discuss tracking registers for pending contract renewals, extensions, or terminations.
- Stakeholder Facilitation: Communicate effectively across teams, updating the procurement group on contract updates and interfacing with technical end-users regarding technical recommendations.
The Requirements
- Education & Qualifications: A formal Bachelor’s Degree (BA) in Commerce, Engineering, or Law is required. Formal Quantity Surveying (QS) or legal training, Contract Management training, or Supply Chain studies are highly desirable assets.
- Experience: A minimum of 2 years of professional experience working directly in the same Contract Administrator position is required. Experience working within heavy industries—such as Mining, Oil & Gas, or Cement—is highly targeted.
- Knowledge & Skills: Expert contract drafting and formulation capabilities, with strong commercial and contractual negotiation skills. Advanced proficiency in the Microsoft Office bundle. Ability to manage multiple tasks across diverse contract categories, spot risks early, and offer proactive mitigation actions.
- Language Capabilities: Fluent English proficiency is required .
