Sukari is located approximately 750km from Cairo and 25km from Marsa Alam on the Red Sea. First gold was poured in June 2009, and commercial production began in April 2010, making Sukari the first modern gold mine in Egypt, a country which in ancient times was a prolific producer of the precious metal. Sukari conducts both open-pit and underground mining operations, each employing specialised mining methods tailored to the orebody characteristics and operational requirements.
 
The Role
 
The Compliance Trainer engages with Load & Haul supervision and HME operators to ensure training and operational standards are consistently followed at Sukari. The role provides classroom and field-based training, mentoring and assessment for Load & Haul Supervisors and Leading Hands, with a strong focus on compliance with SOPs, policies, SWIs and training programs.
Reporting to the Senior Compliance Trainer, the position supports mandatory mining training, reassessments, onboarding and operational compliance in the field. The role also contributes to document translation, safety inspections, reporting and continuous improvement of training and assessment packages to meet AngloGold Ashanti Sukari Gold Mine requirements.

The Key Responsibilities
 

  • Training and assessment: Deliver one-on-one, classroom and field training and assessment for Leading Hands and Supervisors in the Mining department.
  • Operational compliance: Ensure SOPs, policies, SWIs and training standards are followed in the field by Leading Hands and HME operators.
  • Safety leadership: Promote HSE awareness, report incidents, participate in prestarts and Take 5s, and maintain safe training areas with full compliance to site procedures.
  • Reassessment coordination: Coordinate mandatory mining training and 2-yearly reassessments, manage machinery allocation for training needs, and follow monthly training plans.
  • Coaching and performance support: Identify skill deficiencies, implement retraining and coaching, and provide accurate assessments with clear recommendations.
  • Translation and documentation: Assist with English to Arabic translations, review and update SGM documents, and ensure all training events and assessment records are accurately completed and submitted.
  • Operational support: Conduct mining area safety inspections, contribute to monthly training reports, support onboarding for new starters, and respond to operational requests in a timely manner.

 
The Requirements
 

  • At least 5 years’ experience in open pit mining production and operations within large mines.
  • Experience working in multicultural workplaces.
  • Knowledge of and licence to operate equipment used at SGM, predominantly Caterpillar equipment and O&K excavators; other OEM equipment experience is advantageous.
  • Heavy equipment licences.
  • Driving licence is mandatory.
  • Good communication, presentation and training delivery skills.
  • Basic Microsoft Office skills, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Access, would be advantageous.
