Sukari is located approximately 750km from Cairo and 25km from Marsa Alam on the Red Sea. First gold was poured in June 2009 and commercial production began in April 2010, making Sukari the first modern gold mine in Egypt, a country which in ancient times was a prolific producer of the precious metal. Sukari conducts both open-pit and underground mining operations, each employing specialised mining methods tailored to the orebody characteristics and operational requirements.
 
 
The Role
 
The IT Network Administrator is responsible for the day-to-day operation of computer networks across AngloGold Ashanti’s Sukari business. The role covers internal LAN, company-wide WAN connectivity across multiple locations, and external network connections, while maintaining the computing environment through identifying network requirements, installing upgrades, and monitoring network performance.
The role supports network availability, performance, incident resolution, and the ongoing maintenance of network infrastructure and related systems. It also provides second-level user support for escalated helpdesk tickets and contributes to reliable voice and data communications services.

The Key Responsibilities
 

• Operations and support: Maintain and administer computer networks and related computing environments, including systems software, applications software, hardware, and configurations.
• Network monitoring: Monitor data network activity and performance tools to ensure normal network activity and availability for all system users.
• Testing and troubleshooting: Perform testing and evaluation of LAN, WAN, Internet, intranet, and other data communications systems, and troubleshoot server connectivity and service interruptions.
• Incident management: Manage and track incidents through to resolution, maintain records of network-impacting issues, and document problems and solutions for future reference.
• Engineering and provisioning: Install, configure, and maintain networking equipment including switches, routers, proxy devices, core switches, SAN switches, and Blade server connectivity.
• Voice and communications support: Support VoIP infrastructure and associated software, including CISCO CUCM, voicemail, interactive voice response, and IP telephony traffic routing.
• Asset and user support: Maintain network equipment inventory and maintenance logs, assist users, communicate IT policies, and act as second-level support for escalated helpdesk tickets.

The Requirements
 

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related area preferred.
• CCNP Routing and Switching is required.
• Minimum 2 years’ experience managing network infrastructure, routers, switch configuration, and IP telephony systems.
• Demonstrated knowledge of layer 3 routing protocols including static routing, OSPF, BGP, and EIGRP.
• Demonstrated knowledge of layer 2 protocols including 802.1q, Spanning Tree, and GRE tunnels.
• Experience with load balancing and high availability protocols including HSRP, VRRP, and LACP.
• Knowledge of voice technologies including POTS, VoIP, SIP Trunking, and protocols such as H.323, MGCP, SIP, and SCCP.
• Experience implementing and configuring Cisco Unified Communications Manager and supporting VoIP systems.
• Knowledge of MPLS, MBGP, VRFs, cable management, and physical connectivity.
• Working knowledge of network infrastructure and application transport protocols including SSL/TLS, DNS, DHCP, WINS, NTP, FTP, HTTP, SMTP, CIFS, LDAP, and Microsoft AD, including support through VPN and firewall appliances.
• Knowledge of Linux/Unix and open source software including BIND and Nessus.
• Familiarity with ITIL, hardening, best practices, and change management.
• Strong troubleshooting, problem-solving, teamwork, communication, time management, and multitasking skills.
