Senior Geotechnical Engineer
The Company
Globe 24-7 in partnership with their client in Nevada, United States is in search of a Senior Geotechnical Engineer.
Position Overview
Our People division is growing, and we are seeking a Senior Geotechnical Engineer to join our Underground Engineering department. The successful candidate will independently perform work involving visual inspections of underground mining activities to identify rock hazards, provide recommendations, and monitor excavation performance.
The Responsibilities
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Independently conduct visual inspections of underground mining activities to identify rock hazards, provide recommendations, and monitor excavation performance.
- Ensure compliance with Ground Control standards and oversee the ground support QA/QC program, including rockbolt pull-testing and UCS of shotcrete and backfill.
- Apply knowledge of rock mechanics properties to design ground support structures as required.
- Gather, analyze, and report on geotechnical monitoring data, maintaining databases as necessary.
- Review and provide input on mine and stope designs.
- Assist in the development of ground control safety training programs.
- Supervise consultants and contractors when necessary.
- Periodically assist with underground geotechnical mapping and geotechnical core logging for specific drill programs.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications & Experience
- Required: Bachelor’s degree in Mining Engineering, Geological Engineering, or Geology.
- Experience: 5-7 years in Underground Mining, with Geotechnical Design Work.
- Proficient in rock mass classification systems, geotechnical analysis, structural mapping, ground support designs, and underground mining QA/QC programs.
- Preferred familiarity with various geotechnical software packages.
- Strong leadership, problem-solving, and excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
- Flexibility in work hours for on-call and call-outs.
- Ability to work effectively in team settings and independently.
