The Company
Globe 24-7 in partnership with a key client in South Africa is working together to source experienced and qualified talent to join their team.    
 
The Role
The Procurement Officer reports to the Commercial Specialist and is responsible for overseeing the procurement process from start to finish, ensuring compliance with legislation and company policies.
 
The Responsibilities

  • Lead legislative mining charter audits and reporting.
  • Monitor BEE and community procurement performance, encouraging improvement.
  • Supervise the procure-to-pay process.
  • Assist in pre- and post-award activities, including contract review and evaluation.
  • Manage SAP MM module operations.
  • Supervise purchase order processing and liaise with departments.
  • Oversee tendering process transparency and compliance.
  • Manage warehouse/store operations for accuracy and timeliness.
  • Maintain relationships with local and international suppliers.
  • Evaluate and monitor supplier performance for compliance and quality.
  • Oversee procurement budget and planning.
  • Analyze and report on procurement expenditures for savings and efficiency.
  • Enforce the company’s ‘Code of Conduct’.
  • Advise management on employee training needs.
  • Create a high-performing team and conducive employee relations climate.
  • Ensure safety regulations are adhered to by employees.
  • Manage routine workplace safety activities.
  • Manage complexity and adapt to changing job priorities.
  • Create and assign employee schedules, ensuring completion of responsibilities.
  • Identify and correct deviations or non-conformances.
  • Work overtime/standby/shifts as needed.
  • Ensure budget adherence and resource utilization control.
  • Adhere to company policies, procedures, and relevant legislation.
  • Manage and report on non-compliance issues.
  • Establish and maintain good working relationships and effective communication with teams and departments.
  • Commitment to service, quality standards, and stakeholder satisfaction.

 
The Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience as Procurement Officer or similar role.
  • Minimum 10 years’ experience in the Mining Industry preferred.
  • Extensive experience in implementing Supply Chain Local and BEE procurement transformation.
  • Experience in SAP MM module operation and warehouse management preferred.
  • Bachelor’s Degree/Diploma in Commerce, Economics, or Supply Chain Management.
  • Project Management qualification.
  • CIPS Accredited.
  • Valid Driver’s License.
  • Medically fit to work on an underground mine.
  • English: Fully Proficient.
  • Sepedi: Verbally Proficient advantageous.
  • Advanced Computer Literacy (Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Proficient in SAP.
  • Sound knowledge of mining practices and legal requirements.
  • Able to network and communicate with all relevant stakeholders.
  • Knowledge of Benefits and Contractual information management.
  • Able to engage with Host Community forums and/or government stakeholders.
