Plant Supervisor
The Company
Globe 24-7, in collaboration with a leading global mining company, is seeking qualified expatriate Plant Supervisors for their operations in Africa. The company is focused on sustainable growth, operational excellence, and leveraging modern technology to drive production efficiency in their mining operations.
The Role
The Plant Supervisor will be responsible for overseeing the safe and efficient operation of the flotation plant at the client’s Madagascar operation. This role involves ensuring that production targets are met, safety standards are adhered to, and that all plant operations are carried out in compliance with relevant policies and regulations. The successful candidate will work closely with the operations team to optimize plant performance, troubleshoot issues, and contribute to the continuous improvement of the plant’s processes.
The Responsibilities
- Oversee the day-to-day operations of the flotation plant, ensuring the plant operates efficiently and safely.
- Supervise and train plant operators and other personnel, ensuring adherence to safety, production, and quality standards.
- Monitor plant performance and take corrective actions to ensure production targets and quality standards are achieved.
- Collaborate with the maintenance team to schedule and oversee plant maintenance and repairs.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant health, safety, environmental, and quality regulations.
- Analyse and optimize plant processes, identifying opportunities for cost savings and process improvements.
- Monitor and report on production performance, providing updates and recommendations to senior management.
- Ensure that plant personnel are properly trained and are following operational procedures.
- Implement and enforce safety protocols, minimizing risks and ensuring the well-being of all personnel.
- Maintain regular communication with other departments, such as maintenance, engineering, and logistics, to ensure smooth operations.
- Participate in shift handovers and provide detailed reports on operational activities.
- Any other responsibility that can be reasonably expected in this role.
The Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering (Mechanical, Chemical, or Metallurgical Engineering preferred).
- Degree or Diploma in Mining Engineering or Mineral Processing (desirable).
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in a similar role in a flotation plant or processing plant environment, preferably in an expatriate capacity.
- Extensive experience in flotation plant operations, including troubleshooting and optimizing plant performance.
- Strong understanding of health, safety, environmental, and quality standards in mining operations.
- Previous experience working in remote locations and expatriate assignments (preferably in African countries).
- Strong leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to manage and motivate teams.
- Ability to work under pressure and in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent communication skills in English; French would be an advantage.
