Our client is ASX-listed company based in Australia, that holds 100% ownership of a lithium project in Brazil. The world-class Project is now venturing into its feasibility study phase, with a goal of commencing Lithium production in 2026.
Job Summary
The Mining Technical Services Manager role is an instrumental leadership position as this leader will generate all mining technical data, mine designs and plans, and ensure that other Company functions are aligned as we plan, finance, construct and operate this greenfields project. This role is central to the Project’s success, ensuring that we can achieve our vision of being a significant contributor to the clean energy revolution.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Mining Functional Leadership

  • Establish and own the mining policies and standards, and establish a comprehensive and fit-for-purpose system of work for mining technical data, design, planning and operations. This includes information workflow, standards, procedures, guidelines, templates and quality control and assurance. All components of the system must be digital, integrated and used by all participants, including mining services providers, vendors, mining contractors and the commissioning and operations readiness team.
  • Communicate, train, coach, audit, coach and counsel the project and operations teams to ensure that mining system of work is understood and then consistently and effectively used by all personnel and contracting partners. Optimise these systems to ensure that engineering deliverables meet the Project’s and overall business’s needs.
  • Plan and manage mining needs for all goods and services for the Project and other studies. Manage the mining interfaces with other functions, including geology, mineral resources definition, mineral processing, procurement, construction, administration, permitting, licensing, finance (tax), fabrication / manufacturing, mining, operations, community, social and environmental. Have direct input to the management of all mineral rights including the application, permitting and tenure maintenance processes.
  • Ensure proposed, planned and constructed mining facilities are lawful and sustainable, and comply with Company requirements to enable permitting, licensing, project financing, construction and operations. Direct and perform governance over mining service providers as they perform work for, or on behalf of the Company to ensure compliance and sustainability.
  • Lead the risk management program for recognition, analysis and control of mining-related risks. Define and ensure that controls for safety, health, community, projects and operational risks are effectively deployed.
  • Provide effective reporting of Project implementation and performance trends (risk, safety, quality, cost and time) for the mining sections.
  • Generate and manage all Ore Reserves. Prepare materials for reporting to the stock exchange (ASX JORC and potentially TSX) and investors. Preferably be appointed and function as the Qualified Professional (QP) for Mining Reserves, or if not selected for this role plan a leading technical support role.

Capability Attributes

  • Must: Led detailed multi-discipline mining technical data acquisition, design, engineering, planning and contractor selection for a large project (>US$250M) at least once, preferably multiple times, within Brazil. As an Owner’s Team at Manager level of for a recognised mining services consultant.
  • Must: Currently living in Brazil and able to be a resident of Belo Horizonte for at least the next 3 years. The location for their first year after project approval will be Belo Horizonte with travel to the project, and then for approximately 2 years afterwards on site for at least two weeks each month (continuous period on site) providing technical support for construction, operational readiness, commissioning and operations.
  • Must: Familiar with and has effectively used contemporary data-centric mining design and planning tools and methodologies. Familiar with deliverables that are accepted by the Mine Reserve Competent person and Brazilian mining contractors to optimise their productivity and costs.
  • Must: Fluent Brazilian Portuguese speaking. Effective English communicator at Cambridge C2 or better.
  • Should: Has the depth of technical and engineering capability to do as well as lead, as is required in a small team such as in LRS. Be a problem solver committed to achieving the company’s goals.
  • Should: Has worked for an LSE, NYSE, ASX or TSX listed mining company and has demonstrated success working in teams with an Anglo-Brazilian culture.
