Information Systems (IS) Specialist
The Company
Our client is one of the world’s largest producers and marketers of copper, with mining operations and development projects in key mining regions of Africa, Australia, and America. They operate on a large-scale copper and cobalt deposits, both open pit and underground, with high-grade mineral reserves.
The Role
Under the direct supervision of the Information Systems Manager, the incumbent will have the essential role of providing in-depth knowledge transfer on SAP, specifically around the MM and PM modules, to provide a management role Senior Business Analyst to all areas of the business where new information systems processes can be implemented, as well as manage and maintain current system process changes.
This role will be based in Kolwezi, Lualaba, DRC, reporting to the IS Manager.
The Responsibilities
- Understand all current applications and systems and seek solutions tailored to business needs.
- Assist in managing the Information Systems (IS) Support team in a professional manner – both development and application teams with logged tickets, weekly team progress based on KPIs, so that it can help end users with various system issues and queries raised and provide solution recommendations that can help the team mitigate the issues.
- Provide sufficient development skills to be able to work in MSSQL, workflow applications, etc. to modify or create new processes based on specifications and/or change requests.
- Produce specifications, process flows, project plans, risk and gap analyses.
- Address end-user concerns and issues, change management, understand requirements and proactively propose solutions, Help developers resolve technical issues during the software/application development lifecycle process, Manage the IS team to ensure they provide training to end users on the operation of each system/application, Communicate with the business on any new applications/systems or changes.
- Evaluate processes and systems to comply with IT security policies.
- Promotes continuous improvement of daily processes used, projects and software application; Root cause analysis, risk analysis, gap analysis; Carry out any other task requested by the hierarchy that fits with the field or with their skills.
The Requirements
- An advanced degree in software engineering, computer science, information technology, information systems, computer engineering or similar.
- Project Management Certification / Analyst Qualification / SAP Certification (MM and PM) / Supply Chain Certification / Developer Certification or Qualification
- 10+ years of experience as a SAP consultant with strong MM experience and at least 5 years of experience within Information Systems departments, preferably in a management position.
- Proven experience in programming/coding and migration, workflow systems, document configuration changes and performance monitoring
- Proven experience in software implementations, Business Intelligence such as Power BI, systems management tools, design of new processes, detailing specifications, project plans, gap analysis as well as risk management
Technical skills :
- An understanding of databases, including relational databases
- Previous involvement in development projects throughout the SDLC process
- Previous management functions in information systems
- Perfect communication in French and English, both oral and written
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office
- Professional report writing and presentation skills.
- Mastery of SAP, specifically on MM and PM modules
- Strong workflow management skills
