The Company
Globe 24-7 in partnership with a key client in South America, is working together to source a highly capable and motivated professional to join the Glencore Copper Team.
 
The Role
Promote the implementation of standards and references in terms of Safety and Health in the project, by national and international legislation of the geographies where it operates, to comply with the requirements, indicators, and objectives of the Project to obtain the respective mandatory Certifications and enable Glencore’s activities.
 
Within the functional organization, it will report directly to the Director of H&S / H&S Manager of the Project and the Project Manager if applicable, to whom it will provide permanent and timely updates on the progress and compliance of the Training Program; as well as any incidents, actions, difficulties, and needs that may arise during the performance of its duties.
 
 
The Responsibilities
 

  • Ensure the implementation of Glencore’s HSE policies and procedures, as defined in the Management System established for the Project.
  • Compilation of project HSE indicators to support the actions defined in the Process Management and Monitoring Plan and Risk and Opportunity Management Plan, HSE management documents of the Organization.
  • Management of safety incidents (Near misses, Unsafe Actions/Conditions, Accidents). Management and handling of environmental incidents/observations.
  • Control and definition of training needs, conducting studies and analysis of available information.
  • Compliance and execution of SAFEWORK requirements in the Project.
  • Monitoring of safety and health KPIs established by Glencore.
  • Monitoring the evolution of H&S performance.
  • Lead and manage the various weekly consultations/audits/inspections/management walks and H&S interactions.
  • Manage document folders for accreditation. And verify compliance in authorized and defined software by Glencore.
  • Establish a good relationship with participants and encourage them to develop mutual trust so they can rely on each other in the field.
  • Review and validation of documentation from subcontracted companies, workers, and machines to be used.
  • Proper management of project HSE documentation archive in digital format according to internal procedures.
  • Strengthen H&S culture.

 
 
The Requirements

  • University Professional in Occupational Health and Safety and/or University Professional with verifiable experience of at least 5 years in the H&S field. Demonstrable expertise in H&S Risk Management (Master’s degree desirable).
  • The professional should have 10 years of experience in the industry and at least 4 years in a similar position (Head of H&S).
  • Spanish fluency is required, while advanced English proficiency is valued but not mandatory.
  • Experience in developing and managing high performance teams with a high degree of autonomy.
  • Previous background working on complex projects and demonstrated experience in successfully delivering projects at execution stage.
  • Familiarity with industry best practices and standards.
  • Ability to adapt established safety and prevention procedures by Glencore.
  • Initiative-taking skills.
  • Knowledge of Decree 249/2007 – Occupational Health and Safety Law No. 19.587. General Labor Laws (e.g., D.S 911 and D.S 249).
  • Understanding of the Subcontracting Guidelines established in Glencore’s Corporate Policies and the contractual link.
  • Skills for proper resource management.

  • Social and teamwork abilities. Significant experience in communicating technical information and findings to senior personnel, including non-technical audiences.
  • Ability to travel to Antapaccay plant site in Espinar – Cuzco – Perú at an altitude of 4000 masl.
