We are seeking an experienced General Manager of Operations to lead and oversee the operations of a mining project in northern Brazil. This pivotal role will suit a seasoned professional with a strong background in mining operations management and a strategic mindset, driving sustainable growth and operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead day-to-day mining operations, ensuring production targets and safety standards are met or exceeded.
- Develop and implement strategic operational plans, balancing efficiency and cost management with long-term project goals.
- Foster a culture of safety, quality, and environmental responsibility, in compliance with company and regulatory standards.
- Manage and mentor a diverse, multidisciplinary team to drive high performance and continuous improvement.
- Oversee budgeting, resource allocation, and production schedules to optimize project profitability.
- Liaise with stakeholders, including local communities and regulatory bodies, to maintain strong relationships and support for project activities.
- Report to executive management, providing insights and recommendations for operational enhancements and growth opportunities.
Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree, ideally in engineering (mining, processing).
• Minimum of fifteen (15) years of mining experience with progressive management roles.
• The General Manager Operations must have advance knowledge of mining and processing systems, procedures and standards as well as in-depth knowledge of mining key performance indicators. Must have proven experience in managing multi-functional mining, processing, and maintenance groups with multi-million dollar budgets.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Proven Leadership abilities, especially regarding Health and Safety
• Ability to communicate in English and in Portuguese.
