THE must-attend event for investors and stakeholders in the global mining industry just wrapped up in Vancouver, BC and this year’s show was a huge success! Indeed, Globe 24-7’s team was attending along with over 8,000 attendees, 300 exhibiting companies and over 1,000 meetings taking place at the conference!
Globe’s representatives Luis Valente and Lena Kozovski met with industry leaders to understand their HR and hiring needs for 2018 with general sentiment best described as ‘cautionary optimistic’.
Summarising the event, their takeaway’s were:
- 2018 has some great projects in progress and investment in Canada is certainly starting to make a comeback.
- Employment opportunities are now coming from the junior market resulting in more opportunity for job creation.
- Skill shortages is a growing concern along with the impact of a workforce that is changing due to innovation within the sector.
The panellist discussions were well attended also and validated the positive industry outlook for 2018 with new and interesting projects being developed in Canada opening up new opportunities for everyone!
