The Role
Globe 24-7 are working on behalf of our client who are seeking a Senior Contracts Specialist to manage and administer high-value contracts, ensuring successful project delivery and compliance with commercial and legal standards. This if a fly in, fly out expatriate style role on a 6-3 roster and offers flexibility around the point of hire, accommodating candidates form various international bases. This is the sort of role that will be a career highlight, with the opportunity to work on one of the biggest mining projects in the world, from the ground up. Our client is a Tier 1 international miner.
Key Responsibilities:
- Contract Management:Lead the preparation of tender packages, review scopes of work, and ensure contract conditions meet project requirements.
- Tender Process:Coordinate tender distribution, support commercial and technical evaluations, and manage the tender process with stakeholders.
- Negotiations:Conduct and oversee commercial and legal negotiations with contractors, handling clarifications and departures during contractual discussions.
- Contract Administration:Manage all contractual aspects of major contracts, including assessing monthly progress claims, variations, and delay claims.
- Compliance:Ensure contractor adherence to all commercial requirements, including documentation, insurance certificates, and security documents.
- Supplier Relations:Develop and maintain professional relationships with key suppliers and contractors, ensuring high standards are consistently met.
- Risk Management:Identify and propose solutions for commercial risks, ensuring compliance with internal procedures and standards.
- Financial Oversight:Manage relevant budgets, create purchase orders, review invoices, and ensure expenditure compliance.
- Reporting:Contribute to regular reports on contractor performance and project progress.
Qualifications:
- Relevant degree/diploma in Business, Quantity Surveying, Engineering, Construction Management, or Cost Engineering.
- Minimum 10+ years of experience in contract management within the mining sector, ideally greenfield through construction to operations.
- Proven experience with various contract types, including EPC, D&C, BOO, and Construction-only contracts.
- Strong negotiation skills and a solid understanding of commercial agreements.
- Excellent analytical, planning, and financial management skills.
