Ambatovy Joint Venture operation in Madagascar, is recruiting a specialist in refractories and associated ceramic and mortar materials who will coordinate inspections, provide recommendations and implement a middle- and long-term strategy for emergency repairs and refurbishments.

The Role
Reporting to the General Supervisor Integrity, the successful incumbent will take charge of technical inspection, provide expertise & support all refractory’s activities.   He will work closely with the major maintenance, major shutdown and procurement teams to prepare future activities and support in order to manage storage and safety stock.  He will manage the maintenance & engineering improvement project and coordinate contractor specialists for inspection & QAQC during major shutdown or breakdown.
Key Responsibilities
Inspection and repairs for breakdown and major shutdown
Define and validate repair strategy and procedure and follow the contractors to ensure quality.
Work closely with stakeholders including procurement, shutdown, magazine and maintenance
Produce final work completion reports
Quality control around material ordering to validate material specification
Responsible for the DMSA Refractory Master File.
Responsible for all integrity refractory improvement project under Asset Integrity management;
Responsible for the 5 years integrity refractory plan.
Conduct and lead Root Cause Failure Analysis (RCFA)
The Requirements

  • Bachelor of engineering degree in Material, Metallurgical with refractory, ceramic option or equivalent
  • 5 years’ overall experience in repair, alteration, construction, maintenance and quality control on refractory on similar or equivalent plant (Acid, Steam, Furnace).
  • API 560 or equivalent: Refractory Lining and Burner Bric – Recommended but not necessary
  • API 936 or equivalent: Refractory Installation quality control guideline – Inspection and testing – Recommended but not necessary
  • Full knowledge of the international inspection & construction standards
  • Fluent in English and French is a definite asset
  • Experience in providing support and coordination for shutdown and maintenance team
  • Experience in contract management and contractor coordination

The Rewards
The position offers a competitive remuneration package and is available on a Rotational FIFO 8/4 weeks.
