The Company
 
Our client operates on a large-scale copper and cobalt deposits, both open pit and underground, with high-grade mineral reserves. Metals production is conducted using up-to-date metallurgical processing. They are one of the world’s largest diversified natural resource companies, producing and marketing over 90 commodities worldwide. The company’s operations include copper, zinc, nickel, cobalt, and precious metals mining.
 
The Role
This position reports to the Project Commercial Manager and is part of the commercial team responsible for the accurate and detailed tendering, evaluation, execution, and management of the portfolio projects.
This is a permanent role based in the DRC – FIFO with rotational options of 6:3; 4:2.
 
The Responsibilities
 

  • The role will work closely with the senior contracts administrator to ensure that all aspects of the contracts cycle from tender packages, evaluation, issuing of contracts and ongoing contract compliance is to the requirements of the Copper Management Framework (CMF).
  • The role will assist both internal and external stakeholders to ensure that works within the project portfolio can be delivered on time and budget with minimal delays.
  • The role will work with the senior contracts administrator to ensure contract requirements (insurances, H and S documents, reporting, invoicing etc) are maintained up to date and will ensure Contractors are held to account for any non-compliances raised through audit or otherwise.
  • The role will be influenced and instructed by the Senior Contracts Administrator.
  • Adhere to the Companies Contract & Procurement strategy.
  • Continuously monitor and audit regularly the Contractors compliance with the Contract requirements
  • Provide input for reports on contract status.
  • Prioritise workload and deliver what is required to schedule.

 
The Requirements

  • University degree in Business Management / Commercial Management (preferable)
  • Min 3 years’ experience in the mining sector, including direct involvement of contracts for major construction projects.
  • Strong knowledge of end-to-end sourcing processes for goods and services.
  • Strong knowledge and experience in the monitoring of contracts for major projects.
  • Managing the business requirements and ensuring the appropriate approvals are obtained through the initial procurement processes, tender award, contract agreements and the commercial management / administration through the life of the contracts.
  • Strong knowledge of cost and progress reporting to the Commercial Manager.
  • Experience in the implementation of project management processes and financial systems will be beneficial.
  • Experience in drafting, negotiating, and executing various commercial agreements both for services and supply. (SAP PO’s. Fidic etc.) (Beneficial – training and mentoring will be given).
  • Experience in relationship management between the company representative(s) and supplier representative(s), handling of claims and the recommendation for sign off thereof.
  • A good understanding and use of internal system and SAP management workflows. (preferable – or training will be given).
