Junior Accountant

The Company
A growing technology and services business operating across several international markets. The organisation supports global clients with data-driven solutions and is expanding its South African finance function to strengthen internal controls, reporting accuracy, and day-to-day operational support.

The Role
This position supports the Finance Manager with core accounting and bookkeeping tasks. The role focuses on accurate financial processing, reconciliations, monthly reporting inputs, and ensuring strong financial hygiene across the business. It suits someone who is detail-oriented, organised, proactive, and comfortable working across multiple systems.

The Responsibilities

• Capture and process invoices, supplier statements, purchase orders, and payment requests.
• Perform bank, supplier, and general ledger reconciliations.
• Maintain accurate records of accounts payable and accounts receivable.
• Support month-end close with journals, schedules, and variance checks.
• Assist with VAT calculations, submissions, and supporting documentation.
• Track company expenses, staff reimbursements, and credit card transactions.
• Maintain fixed asset registers and depreciation schedules.
• Prepare supporting documents for audits and compliance reviews.
• Assist with cashflow tracking and weekly reporting inputs.
• Work closely with internal teams to resolve queries and ensure clean financial data.

The Requirements

• Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• 3-5 years’ experience in a junior accounting or bookkeeping role.
• Strong skills in reconciliations, ledger work, and processing high volumes accurately.
• Comfortable working in cloud-based accounting platforms (e.g., Xero, Sage, QuickBooks).
• Solid Excel skills (VLOOKUPs, pivot tables beneficial).
• Good understanding of VAT principles.
• Strong attention to detail, organisation, and follow-through.
• Ability to work independently and meet deadlines in a hybrid environment.
