Contract Manager

The Role
The Contract Manager will be responsible for developing and implementing the Contract Management Framework within the company in connection with the Group’s Contract & Claim Management Standard. The successful candidate is also responsible for implementing and coordinating, throughout the life cycle of contracts, the means and processes necessary to control operational, financial, and contractual risks of the company during the execution of contracts.
 

The Responsibilities

• Ensure the up-to-date and proper traceability of documentation and exchanges between the parties.
• Have a good understanding of the need, the operation, and/or the project as a whole.
• Ensure the consistency of all documents relating to contracts.
• Assist the buyer or project manager in the management of project and/or contract risks and the implementation of mitigation measures, from the signing of the contract until the end of the implementation phase.
• Participate in the review of the specifications and the definition of the performance indicators of the tender files.
• Administer and ensure the follow-up of the proper execution of the actions and contractual obligations of the parties under the specifications, specification and associated procedures.
• Manage performance monitoring through progress monitoring, monitoring and quality control, monitoring and closing of actions/decisions.
• Monitor and manage non-conformities, deviations, drifts, blockages, or risks of disputes and litigation (notification and execution of remediation action plans).
• Anticipate and propose the implementation of potential opportunities (e.g. revision of the Specifications, application of the terms of the contract or proposal of modifications to the contract);
• Administer the minutes of inspections, controls, tests and acceptance (final, single and / provisional).
• Manage contractual guarantee claims, notifications and the proper execution of associated action plans, management of associated costs and planning.
• Manage the closing of the contract, if necessary, prepare the closing report.
• Claim Management.
• Ensure the execution of contracts in compliance with the companys Security Policy, the Group Code of Ethics, internal procedures and the regulations in force in the country.
• Contributes to improving the operational and financial performance of contracts, in particular by controlling operational risks (safety and quality deviations, not technical compliance) and financial compliance (additional costs, budget overruns, schedule slippage, margin degradation, etc.) in close collaboration with the internal operational functions/teams concerned.
• Contributing to the optimization of expenses and financial gains.
• Guaranteeing compliance with the Group’s values and compliance with the company’s regulatory and contractual commitments (in particular the Responsible Purchasing, Ethics & Compliance, and CSR policies);
• Optimising the legal litigation strategy (especially during the pre-litigation phase).
• Budget: cost of purchase contracts (provision of services, intellectual services, works contracts, materials and equipment, and CAPEX investment contracts) in accordance with the annual budget
• Purchasing contracts evaluated “critical” in the application of the Contract Management Framework, the Purchasing procedures applicable to the company.
• Work closely with the operational and support functions of the company and the group such as Legal, Purchasing, PMO, Financial, Risk and Compliance
• Liaise with external Suppliers / Service Providers
• Interact with the network of Contract Managers and the Group’s Contract & Claim Management division.

 
The requirements

• Fluent in French & English
• Minimum of 10 years of industrial experience required and experience in contract or project management.
• Relevant degree.
• Experience in mining or natural resources industry.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
