An exciting opportunity exists with our global mining client for an experienced Belt Supervisor based in Limpopo. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing the operation and maintenance of conveyor belt systems, ensuring efficiency, safety, and compliance within the workplace.
Minimum Requirements:
- Completed Grade 12 / Matric
- Valid Trade Certificate
- Sound knowledge of the Mine, Health & Safety Act and the regulations
- 3 years’ conveyor experience, maintenance and operations
Key Performance Areas:
- Continuously monitoring the performance of conveyor systems to ensure they operate smoothly and efficiently.
- Creating and managing schedules for routine maintenance, inspections, and repairs to prevent unexpected breakdowns.
- Ensure that all belt installation defects are reported to control room.
- Manage and ensure that belt pre-start checks are done effectively, and no belts are operated with faulty safety devices.
- The ability to successfully lead and work within a team environment and build effective working relationships.
- Coaching new belt employees
- Conducting regular performance evaluations to assess the effectiveness and productivity of team members.
- Ensure that conveyor belts are not operated with spillage.
- Ensure that subordinates comply with lock-out procedures before conducting cleaning of spillage or unblocking the chutes.
- Ensure that fire suppression and extinguishing is available and inspected before belts are operated.
- Implementing and enforcing safety protocols to protect workers and prevent accidents.
- Ensuring that all maintenance and operational activities comply with local, state, and federal safety regulations.
- Assist during scheduled maintenance and fixing deviations reported on the belt.
- Ensure the PPE of the subordinates is appropriate for working close to moving machinery.
- Ensure no conveyor belt guards are removed before the belt is locked out.
- Ensure that all the belt attendants are authorized to conduct work on the belt.
